FAQ
February 13, 2010Q: What should I expect? What will my session be like?
A: After you contact me about scheduling a session I will send out a complete session guide and price list. We will then work together to set-up and plan the perfect session. This planning process usually takes about two-three weeks. The session itself will run about one -three hours and consist of several set-ups and/or locations. Sessions are very fun and laid back, they often involve oodles of laughter, so don’t plan on stiff poses and stuffy set-ups! A week after your session I will put up a sneak peek on this site, then a week after that I will post all your proofs in your private online gallery for you to view and pick out your prints.
Q: When should I schedule my maternity session?
A: The best time to do your maternity sessions is in the beginning of the third trimester.
Q: When should I schedule my newborn session?
A: The day you find out your pregnant : ) okay, that may be a little bit of an exaggeration, but the sooner the better and certainly BEFORE you have your baby . Newborns are best photographed within the first eleven days after their birth (when they still have their newborn curliness). We will schedule your session based on your estimated due date, blocking off several days, to account for both early and late arrivals.
Q: Do you do other sessions besides babies and children?
A: Yes, I also do high school senior, engagement and weddings, and family sessions…if you have a unique session request feel free to send me an email; I am always up for a creative challenge!
Q: What should I wear?
A: When you book a session with me, I will send out a clothing guide to help pinpoint the right look for you and your session. If you are still nervous or unclear about what will work, I can go over your outfit choices with you at your session.
Q: Where will the session be held?
A: Your session can be held just about anywhere you want, as long as it is safe and the weather permits. I have a collection of new and unusual locations we can pick from but if you have a special corner of this town you would like to have your session at, just let me know.
Babies under one are almost always done in my studio or in the client’s home.
Q: Why do you specialize in natural light photography? What does that mean for me, the client?
A: When I first ventured into photography I used large studio lights and learned quickly how uncomfortable they were for my clients, especially the littlest ones! The truth is it’s hard to act normal and be comfortable when you have flashes going off in your face. So the flashes and studio lighting was the first thing to go in my effort to take the stress out of the photography experience.
I have studied and spent months and months practicing and learning to work with the natural light of the sun. I love how the simplest change in the suns’ lighting can transform a scene and therefore transform the images being captured. Natural lighting creates softer and more natural images, images that harness the depth and warmth of the sun’s rays.
Q: Will you do _________ like so-and-so?
A: I am always up for client’s ideas and often take pose and set-up request, however if you are looking to replicate another photographer’s look or style, I will not be able to help you with that. I pride myself in creating UNIQUE images that reflect my client’s personality, and because no two people are the same, their portraits should not be either.
Q: Do you offer discounts or specials on your sessions?
A: Yes, especially for return clients!
Q: Can I use an image from my session for: an announcement in the telegram, yearbook, senior slideshow, etc.?
A: Yes, let me know prior to your session if you are considering using any images for a special propose and we can go over options to ensure you get the image you need.
